Dan Fitzgerald is the co-founder of Heartbreak Hill Running Company, one of the most dynamic, influential, and respected running brands in the world. He’s also the founding coach of the Heartbreakers, a USATF-certified club, and a Nike Running Coach. For over a decade, he has served as the head coach for more than 18 charity teams racing in the Boston, Chicago, and NYC marathons, comprised of runners of every pace from around the world. Each year, he tirelessly prepares, trains, inspires, and cheers more than 2,000 marathoners across the finish line.

Named “Best Running Coach” in 2016 by Boston Magazine, Fitzgerald is known for his dedication to building not just faster runners but diverse and thriving running communities that love their sport, make their cities more vibrant, make running more fun, and support each other on the roads, on the track, and in their lives.

Fitzgerald ran Division 1 track at Boston College, where he captained the team and competed in the 800m. A half-miler to the core, he has also tackled the marathon, running his first Boston Marathon in 2014 in a time of 2:46:11. Previously, he spent the formative years of his career in the surf industry, where he refined his eye for design and an energetic, outside-the-box approach to business. He lives in Milton, MA with his wife, author Rebecca Pacheco, and their daughter.
