For Chicago, From Chicago | Hannah from the Heartbreakers

For our Chicago '23 collection (here) we tapped run community luminaries from the all over the scene plus one of our own! Hannah (aka @hannahkicks) is a Heartbreaker & coach of our squad running out of Lincoln Park. We asked Hannah a few questions to get know her and how she feels about her city.

HB: What excites you about running right now?

Hannah: Pushing yourself hard and seeing the impact it can make on your goals (inside and outside of the sport) is one of the most electrifying and exciting parts of running for me right now.

I’m definitely working on my speed but that’s not really something that always motivates me either. Testing the limits of how far I can go has been super fun for me this year plus there’s better snacks when you’re in the woods. I don’t make the rules it’s just true.

Oh and being a back of the pack baddie is a vibe for sure! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Own your space and be the runner you need to be for yourself because someone else needs to see that too.

HB: What do you love about Chicago?

Hannah: Man, I love Chicago because it’s got so much to offer. I think you can’t even begin to describe it but the people and the community keeps this city moving forward every day. From the south side to the north side we love this Windy City and we’re dedicated to helping each other thrive within it. That’s not something I could say about the place I lived before moving here. Seeing organizations and individuals around Chicago show up for each other is a feeling unmatched by any other.

HB: What's your favorite thing about running with your crew?

Hannah: My heartbreak Chicago crew makes running everything is should be. It’s fun, it’s super challenging sometimes, and you can ask anyone to hang out and they’ll gladly bounce around the city for some easy miles with you.

Running with heartbreak has expanded my belief in myself and the faith I have that I CAN do this.

When you’re ready to go that extra mile - or 50 or 100, the team is there to help you get it done.

Plus the epic humans you get to meet are simply too much fun to hang out with. Somehow along the way you start spending all your time together and it’s just one big group hangout after the other.

I don’t think there’s anything better than that - except for post long run bagels and coffee…probably.

HB: As the world gets ready to join the Chicago running scene in October, what should they know?

Hannah: All I have to say about October is “get ready.” The Chicago runners are going to bring the heat to the streets. Metaphorically of course.

Anyways, this is OUR Jordan year and the world is about to see some incredible performances and stories from Chicago athletes that have been grinding so hard and so long for their chance to race.

I’m personally on the edge of my seat to cheer on my crew this year because they put in WORK!

The post race feels will set in and then we’ll all start looking for that new goal or milestone because we never stop pushing our limits.

Inspired by 90s era Chicago when it defined sport and culture, Heartbreak’s ‘23 Chicago celebration collection melds hoop dreams with running fashion.

In 1995-96, the Bulls & MJ dazzled the world with their commitment to excellence every single night going 72-10, setting the regular season win record. The same year, they debuted the hot new black pin stripe uniform. That season and that team inspired athletes of every generation since for their drive, their dominance, & their style.

For Fall 2023, Heartbreak debuts its “Flying H” monogram. Designed in-house by Lucas Larson, the subtle lines of the pattern guide the eye with strong direction - always forward, always up.

Colored and styled with a nod to the greatest team ever, this one’s for our Chicagoans who run the streets all year, always forward, raising spirits, elevating the game, and inspiring the world.
