Heartbreak x The Silverroom | Chicago 2025

House music was born in Chicago in the early 1980s as an act of resistance, release, and rebirth. It gave people, especially Black, queer, and marginalized communities space to feel free. On the dance floor, "Take me higher" was both a promise and a plea.

DJs like Frankie Knuckles, spinning at the legendary Warehouse, experimented with drum machines, synthesizers, and extended mixes, creating hypnotic rhythms that made people move.

Heartbreak and The Silverroom are drawing upon this same spirit, and are teaming up to celebrate the rhythm that built Chicago. This collaboration connects the city’s house music roots with the marathon. Just like house music layers beats to build momentum, marathon training layers effort, resilience, and flow to create a powerful rhythm of its own.

As part of the marathon lead-up, we’re bringing runners and music lovers together to honor Chicago’s legacy.

Local's Run 9/17

Chicago is the birthplace of House music and the Silverroom carries that legacy every day. Heartbreak’s Chicago Marathon lead-up is connecting this proud fact of the city’s history to the athlete experience of training in partnership with the Silverroom.

Join us for a special event celebrating running, music, and the sounds that are the pulse of this city. Eric Williams and Marielle Hall will lead the run and conversation.

Longest Long Run 9/20

The Silverroom brings the vibes to mile 20 with a special House inspired playlist! Runners and locals are invited to come cheer, dance, and soak in the sounds of Chicago. The Longest Long run is the peak of our Marathon training journey powered by Nike Running.

Support the $1M Art Fund for The Silver Room

For nearly three decades, The Silverroom has been more than a store it’s been a cultural heartbeat for Chicago. Founded by Eric Williams in 1997, it has launched thousands of Black and Brown artists and entrepreneurs, hosted countless events, and generated over $10 million in economic impact for Chicago communities.

That’s why The Silverroom is launching the $1M Art Fund. The Fund will:

  • Continue uplifting Black and Brown artists and entrepreneurs

  • Host cultural events and community gatherings

  • Revive the legendary Silver Room Block Party

  • Build sustainable models to preserve culture in the face of displacement

This is a fundraiser to protect and expand one of Chicago’s most important cultural institutions. Donate here.
