The Heartbreak crew hit the road to Charlottesville, Virginia, for the NCAA D1 Cross Country Championships, ready to cheer on runners in the biggest race of the year.
Our Boston College Eagles linked up with us for a photoshoot that embodied their breakout year. Before the Northeast Regional meet, everyone had them pegged as 4th and out, but the BC women shut down the doubters, snagging second place at regionals and punching their ticket to Virginia. We hung out with them the night before the race for a laid-back "Sleepover Style" photoshoot — a little nod to those who had been sleeping on them. Front runner Emma Tavella put it bluntly: WAKE UP!
Come race day, the Boston crew was repping hard with 23 athletes from Harvard, Boston College, and Northeastern.
Graham Blanks made history as the first men’s Ivy League runner to grab the NCAA XC title. The Harvard guys landed 15th with 398 points, and Maia Ramsden crushed a 10th place in the women’s race, leading her team to 25th.
The Boston College women placed 26th, led by senior Roshni Singh who finished in 79th with a time of 20:32.
Northeastern's Ben Godish finished in 123rd with a time of 30:45, and Abby Hassman, former SEAC staffer and forever a Heartbreak family member, finished in 94th with a time of 20:38.
Watching these athletes Run Hard & Risk Heartbreak was beyond inspiring. Next up, indoor!
