Night School, a new part of this year’s Nike After Dark Tour training journey is a space after hours to come together, get curious, and give women the tools to better understand themselves and their training.
For our first Night School, we went into the lab with Byron Gomez and Dr. Tessa James from Myo Detox to learn more about how our bodies move. This time, we moved from the lab to the dinner table.
For our second session, we were joined by performance dietitian Sarah Adler, MS, RD, CSSD, for a conversation about fueling, simple pre and post workout nutrition guidelines, and how to avoid the dreaded bonk.
Sarah helped us dig into the science of fueling, but the conversation wasn't about finding another set of rules or the “perfect” way to eat. It was about learning to listen to your body, understanding what it needs, and giving yourself permission to nourish it.
And then, we did what you should do after talking about food for an hour: we ate.
Chef Houston from Not Not Bar joined us for dinner, serving up food from one of the vibiest disco pizza spots on Main Street. We gathered around the table, kept the conversation going, and let dinner be dinner. No tracking, no optimizing, no rules. Just good food, good company, and a room full of women who had spent the evening learning a little more about how to take care of themselves. That's what we want Night School to be. A place to learn, but also a place to live a little.
