Nike After Dark Tour LA 13.1- Giving A Face To The Race

Running for women used to look something like getting heckled, or even physically removed from the race course. Today, things look very different.

Run culture, especially women’s run culture is having a moment. Strava has identified women under 25 as the fastest-growing community on the platform.

This weekend, thousands of women will take to the streets of Los Angeles for the Nike After Dark Tour LA, part of a global race series with stops in cities like Sydney, Shanghai, Seoul, Mumbai, and London.

Check out the latest episode of Unexpected Curves to catch up with Ayahna Wilbon, the founder of @frnds.table a creative culinary studio, and a first-time half-marathoner. Her journey to the starting line is personal, but it also mirrors a broader shift happening across the world. More women are moving on their own terms, redefining what wellness and fitness look like in 2025.

As a runner, athletics will be front and center, but sometimes you have to go outside the lane to see the bigger picture. No topic is off-limits, and we'll be taking a lot of left turns to find the right answers. Nothing wrong with a few curves 😉.  Tune in every Thursday for new episodes on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
