"Heartbreak Hill Running Company, a running club near my home in Lincoln Park, proved a saving grace by offering weekly early-morning audio-guided speed runs throughout the summer. Dipping under a 7-minute pace one June day, I started to wonder how fast I could run a mile these days, now a 38-year-old mom of two and far from my grade school track days.
A friend who ran in college offered to pace me, and we set — and met — the goal of breaking a 6:15 mile by Labor Day."
