2023 Fall Marathon Training | Coach Dan's Weekly Long Run Kick-off

Every week, Heartbreak hosts runners in-person in Boston & Chicago for Chicago & NYC Marathon training. Not everyone can make the sessions though. In order, to reach our Heartbreakers and charity partners training all over the world, Coach Dan sends out a Friday intention setting message ahead of the long runs. We'll share them here each week. Week of 10/27/2023:

NYC Marathon training: 

BEG: 8 miles (Boston local route); INT 10 miles (Boston local route)

Week of 10/20/2023:

NYC Marathon: 

BEG: 12 miles (Warm up for 4 miles, MGP for 8 miles; Boston local route); 

INT: 13-15 miles (Warm up for 5 miles then MGP for remainder; Boston local route)

Week of 10/13/2023:

NYC Marathon:

BEG & INT: 20 miles (Boston local route)

Week of 10/7/2023:

NYC Marathon:

BEG & INT: ~13 mile

Boston area route

Week of 9/29/2023:

Chicago: BEG: 8 miles (Boston local route); INT 10 miles (Boston local route)

NYC: Beginner (18 miles, Boston run route), Intermediate (20 miles "time on feet", Boston run route [mapped to 21.7 for true TOF experience, watch vid for instructions)

Week of 9/21/2023:

Chicago:

BEG: 12 miles (Warm up for 4 miles, MGP for 8 miles; Boston local route);

CHI: Beginner (13 miles, Boston run route), Intermediate (13 miles Boston run route)
NYC: Beginner (14 miles, Boston run route), Intermediate (12-16A* miles, Boston run route)

A* (= assignment: progression run; 1st 6-10 miles easy; each of last 6 miles faster than previous mile. Learn to finish strong. Distance variation comes from how many miles you want to run warming up. Be careful with yourself at this stage.)
