2024 Boston Training | Weekly Long Run Kick-off with Coach Dan

2024 Boston Training | Weekly Long Run Kick-off with Coach Dan

Every week, Heartbreak hosts runners in-person in Boston & Chicago for Boston Marathon training. Not everyone can make the sessions though. In order, to reach our Heartbreakers and charity partners training all over the world, Coach Dan sends out a Friday intention setting message ahead of the long runs (watch below). We'll share them here each week. Want to train for Boston with us? Learn more here. See all of our Boston Marathon specific events here.

Week of 2/2/2024:

Beginner: 14 miles (Boston area route)

Intermediate: 16(A) miles (Boston area route) - after mile 8, alternate (mile @ tempo, mile @ steady (steady = near MGP, comfortably hard). So tempo miles 9, 11, 13, 15. Remember, tempo is your 1 hour long threshold pace, "you could talk at this pace but you'd rather not and if it feels to fast, slow down a hair." (Tip: Don't over think the paces.) Think of it as alternating STRONG then MGP alternating miles for the last 8.
