2024 Boston Marathon Message from Coach Dan

2024 Boston Marathon Message from Coach Dan

Happy Boston Marathon Weekend, Athletes!

I recorded a final send-off video for you (watch below).
Hustle to heartbreak.run/boston24 to reserve your spot(s) in our most epic Boston events calendar ever! It's GO TIME! We're filled with emotion, our nerves steeled, our bodies trained for the task at hand - a 26.2 mile show of strength.

You know the assignment this week: Run the Boston Marathon!

Be calm.
Be confident.
Run smart.
Run tough.
Have fun!

That sounds simple, right? It's not really all that simple when you think about how you got here. It took 20 weeks of focus (if not a lifetime), 20 weeks of hard work, and 20 weeks of dedication. Your marathon is the culmination of all of this work. Really, it's more than that - it's the culmination of all of your life experience up until this point. You need to summon all that you are to take on this task.

You are fully prepared. Your body and your mind are ready for the rigors of this race.

Be calm - You can do this. You've run hundreds of miles in preparation for this.

Be confident - You've run hard week after hard week. Now, you're tapered. You are stronger now than you have been at any other point of the program. You are ready.

Run smart - It's tempting to run the first half too fast. Bottle that energy. The second half is much harder. Always run to the terrain. Execute your plan.

Run tough - This is going to be hard. You trained for hard parts. You are strong enough to overcome them. Meet them with gratitude - be grateful that you're strong enough to meet them and keep going. Think about why you're doing this and keep going.

Have fun - This is the BOSTON MARATHON. There is no other race like it on earth. Soak in every moment. Feel the energy. Look around. Absorb it. Enjoy it.

You are a fully trained and prepared marathoner. All that's left to do now is run!

Monday is your celebration.

Run your race.

This is your Boston Marathon! - Coach Dan
