Behind the Design | Heartbreak Aurora Collection

Whenever we begin a design project at Heartbreak, we start with questions.
Who are we designing for? What moments will this garment live through? Why does this piece need to exist?

Design, for us, isn’t just about performance, it’s about identity. The things we wear shape how we move through the world and how we see ourselves.

Lately, I’ve been deep in tennis core. Coming off Wimbledon and heading into the US Open, I’ve found myself diving back into the archives of Agassi.

Early in his career, Andre Agassi played not just with power, but with persona. Denim shorts. Neon tops, and long hair that was actually... a wig. In his memoir Open, he reveals he started wearing one as his hair began thinning. Right before the 1990 French Open final, the wig nearly fell apart. He was terrified it would come off during play. Distracted, he lost the match.

Shortly after, his brother convinced him to ditch the wig and wear a hat. It sounds small, but it was everything. A shift from image to intention. The Agassi look evolved: bandanas, hats, simplicity, and with it came a new version of himself. He stripped away the performance of identity to perform as himself. And from that moment, because of a hat, his story changed.

That’s what we believe great design can do. It doesn’t just outfit you for the destination. It meets you in the process. It gives shape to the quiet moments no one sees: the pre-dawn miles, the solo workouts, the days you show up anyway.

The Aurora Collection was built for those moments. Inspired by the Northern Lights, a phenomenon you can’t see during the day, this kit is a reminder: Beauty demands the dark.

Your PR. Your breakthrough. Your race day magic. Those are the moments everyone sees. This design was made to be with you, in the dark, where the real story gets written.

Mood Boards

Good design isn't just functional. It evokes emotion. Mood boards help us define the emotional core of a project early on. Are we aiming for nostalgia? Grit? Lightness? Movement? The imagery sets the mood, literally.
