Need a personal coach?
Heartbreak's session coaches, pacers, and community leaders know the importance of having someone in your corner. That's why they teamed-up to create a new coaching collective that will elevate your running through an intimate understanding of what you're going through and personalized approach to your training & goals. Already members of our Heartbreak team, you can count on them to bring big love to your journey.
Read about each one below to get a sense of who they are and for whom they would be a good fit! Fill out this intake form if you're interested in learning more!
EMILY:
Hey, I'm Emily! I joined Heartbreak in 2016 and credit the HB team and community with helping me build incredible friendships, make Marathon Monday my favorite day of the year, and take over 30 mins off my marathon personal best. Now an ultramarathoner with a 2:53 marathon PR and 7 Boston Marathons under my belt, I love training hard and finding new ways to grow and challenge myself as a runner - most recently that's meant taking on a 50-Miler and getting comfortable lifting heavy weights in the gym. I believe in both training hard and recovering hard, and I'm excited to help athletes find ways to set and work towards big running goals, while balancing work, family, fun, and the chaos of everyday life!

You might be a good fit for working with me if:
    • You're interested in leveling up while training for a Marathon
    • You're a lifelong athlete who's new to running or structured run training
    • You take training seriously, but you don't take yourself too seriously :)

JOSH:
Hi, I'm Josh! I started running as a long jumper and 60m sprinter (I asked for the shortest events possible). After realizing that there are far more weekend 5ks than long jump opportunities, I decided to try out this whole "distance running” thing. I worked my way up to the Boston Marathon off of solo training before discovering how much better having a community (and a coach) was for me. I've experienced my share of triumphant PBs and season ending injuries over the years and they’ve all taught me that there is no one-size-fits-all method of training, which is why I want to help others unlock their potential.

I'm excited to work with all sorts of athletes, but I might be an especially good fit if you're someone who:

    •  Is a curious learner when it comes to running and training
    •  Needs a more dynamic training plan
    •  Has an athletic background, but maybe hasn’t done much structured running

LIZ:
Hi everyone, my name is Liz! I have been running since 2016 after retiring from the ballet world. I signed up for my first half marathon with no running experience, and quickly learned how much opportunity there was to improve by committing to yourself and learning from the running community. Since then, I am proud to have run three marathons, most recently Boston 2024, and dozens of half marathons (my personal favorite distance, which is apparently a controversial opinion!). My biggest asset is my consistency, and I understand how to lay the training bricks in a way that leaves you feeling confident and ready to run your victory lap.
I might be the coach for you if:
    • You want to commit to a goal
    • You’d like support balancing your busy life and running
    • You enjoy calculating your DPM (dogs per mile)
I’m looking forward to crushing it with you!
UP:
Hi, I’m U.P.!, I believe so strongly in the power of movement to feel good and build community that I've been a passionate runner for 5+ years, and a run coach with 4 years of experience leading track and tempo workouts with the Heartbreakers, along with a few seasons of coaching high school cross country. I believe that it doesn't matter how far or how fast you go, lacing up your shoes makes you a runner. That said, I haven't always identified as a runner - I first tried the sport after college graduation, and my first marathon was finished in 4 hours, 12 minutes. Before my running journey started, I also had to come back from 2 separate ACL injuries. Since then, through hard work, consistency, and balancing training with life’s demands, and quite a few heartbreaks, I’ve qualified for the Boston Marathon twice (with a PR of 3:23) and run a sub-20-minute 5K. I've done 15 marathons and a couple ultras in addition to all my run coaching, and I am a NASM-CPT (Certified Personal Trainer). I've written a few plans for friends to chase their own running/BQ dreams, but want to help even more people reach theirs.

I know what it takes to build the strength, resilience, and strategy to hit big goals. Training isn’t just about miles; it’s about finding a routine that fits your life. Whether you’re aiming for a big PR, coming back from injury, or finishing your first marathon, I’m here to help you every step of the way.  See you out there!

Pat:
Bonjour, my name is Patrick McCurry, a determined runner, musician, and bookworm. My quest for running knowledge began early on in my high school career when my teammate lent me a copy of ‘Marty Liquori’s Guide for the Elite Runner’. From there, and after some NCAA DIII championships and juco titles… My thirst for knowledge and running optimization still lives on while continuing to set PRs after college. ‘Every day has a purpose, and how do we get the most out of our training days?’ Are some philosophies that always are on my mind.

My target athlete is someone who is - curious. Curious about their fitness, and what potential they can untap into their running. Curious about what level they can take their running to, but at the same time, are able to enjoy the process, trust the milestones, and most importantly— in this big casino called life, know it’s all about fun.
