NCAA D1 XC | Nationals

Heartbreak was on hand to capture the action the NCAA D1 Cross Country National Championships in Tallahassee, FL over the weekend. The women of the NC State were dominant in their team victory scoring just 84 points to second place BYU's 122. On the men's side, the Lumberjacks of NAU cruised to a strong victory 45 points ahead of second place Iowa State. Congrats to Whittni Orton and Conner Mantz for their individual victories earning BYU the top spot in both the men's and women's race! Some other noteworthy stories:

The Harvard men finished 12th overall led by Heartbreak Love Squad member Acer Iverson who placed 40th overall & secured the final All-American spot for himself. Congrats, men!

Cooper Teare of Oregon embodied exactly what we mean by Run Hard, Risk Heartbreak. The defending national champion over 5000m (13:12.27) got out hard under the Florida sun establishing his rightful place among collegiate distance running's elite. He battled in All-American contention until his body shutdown in the last 1000m. He collapsed 50 meters from the finish & crawled, not allowing medical staff to pull him off until he crossed the line. The same energy that set the meet record in the 5000 for collegiate outdoor nationals & placed 4th in the Olympic trials (2020, 5000) always finishes on empty and knows guts & glory. 6th in 2019 at XC Nationals, 247th in 2021, legend status elevated & cemented.

Emily Royston a senior from Butler & member of our Love Squad placed 195th in Tallahassee. Fun to see one of the faces of our Run Hard, Risk Heartbreak launch campaign going hard in Tallahassee.
