The 2021 Nike Boston Celebration Collection is a breath of fresh air for this running city. First, the Nike x Heartbreak co-branded Aeroswift singlet marks the first time a major marathon collection features a collaboration with a local running brand. This is Nike's pinnacle racing singlet emblazoned with a Swoosh/Heart tag at the hip & another pairing center back.
Our own Coach Dan Fitzgerald had a long conversation with Nike Design Director, Diego Guevara, that anchored some ideas and leaned away from the traditional use of our big 4 sports teams' color palettes. Citing Boston as a sophisticated city, one that's less "influencer" and more "global hub of influence", Dan described the people who make up our Boston running community: "Boston is full of dedicated athletes who do things like run 2:19:02 in the marathon then go back to work on climate science at world leading institutions (in the case of Heartbreaker Stephen Bourguet). We're people who run but also people who work hard and distinguish ourselves in other places. This is a global hub of medicine and education. We're world class geneticists & brain surgeons, teachers, nurses & physicians, architects, financial professionals, fellows, interns, builders, contractors, civil servants, security guards, brand creators & innovators... This running community works hard then goes about its business. We don't spend a lot of time talking about ourselves."
Diego and the Running Design team captured that spirit with the phrase "Work Hard, Run Strong" that you'll see throughout the collection with unique fonts & a new color palette for Boston.
So Boston, this is ours. This one's for us. Get it here.
