To highlight some of your teammates who'll be following along with Vision 21, we asked some Heartbreakers what their goals are and what they're most looking forward to within the program. Here's Jackie Quinlan. [Black and white portrait by Daniel Portal]
HB: What are you looking forward to in 2021?
JQ: The main thing I'm looking forward to in 2021 is getting the COVID-19 vaccine and safely running a marathon again! I did the virtual Boston Marathon this year, and while it was special in its own way, it made me realize how much I miss the cheering crowds and camaraderie of big city marathon. I can't wait to get out on a marked course, try to pass a pace group, high five spectators, and have celebratory beers with the Heartbreakers at the end!!
HB: Which of our athlete consultants are you most excited to hear from?
JQ: Molly Seidel! What marathoner wouldn't want to learn from and train along with a member of this year's Olympic Marathon team? I have to admit I'm equally excited to learn from Jonny Phillips. We're from the same home town and alma mater, so I'm a fan of his. He gave me some great fueling advice at the Boston Marathon training kickoff event last year.
HB: What’s your big running goal for the year?
JQ: I would love to run a marathon in under 5 hours! As of now the Richmond Marathon in November is my goal race, but I'll move it to Chicago if I can get in. I hear the Heartbreakers know how to party in Chicago. :)
HB: How do you expect the Heartbreakers/Vision21 will help?
JQ: Work has been crazy for me this year (I work with labor market data and support diversity initiatives), so I'm basically starting at square one with no running base. Having a 10+ month plan ahead of me is giving me the confidence that I can get back into marathon shape and run my fastest time in years. I'm looking forward to the four training phases and team challenges to keep me motivated along the way. Having a light at the end of the pandemic tunnel with in-person Heartbreaker events on the horizon has me totally pumped for 2021. BYE 2020!
